Back in 1964 when Tom got his first profession regular start playing the Maple Leaf Hotel in Timmins, Tom began to do a live show at the local CKGB radio station and they decided to press some 45’s from the songs he was singing there. These 45’s are the first ever recordings that were made available by Tom for sale at the Maple Leaf Hotel.

Similar to the CKGB single, this single was released 1966 under the Twang imprint, the only Canadian single ever released under this imprint.

In the late 60’s Tom recorded 2 45’s under the label named Rebel which is considered the first actual record label name he recorded for, however brief it was, until he started recording for Dominion Records a year or 2 later.

This was the first established Recording Company Tom signed with to record and sell his albums. Tom would later on partner with one of the executives of Dominion to form Boot Records in 1970.

Boot Records was formed by Tom and his partner that left Dominion Records around 1970. This was when it became possible for Tom to release many 45’s now that he was running a record company and he signed new Canadian Bands throughout those years. At one point in the 70’s, Boot Records made a deal with a US distributor to sell Toms music in the United States. These are the only 2 45’s we know about but there may have been more. If any fans have any, feel free to send us information.

This was a one time release that was special for the Muskoka Winter Carnival that year and later the label was changed so that it could be sold at various Winter Carnivals. “The Snowmobile Song” (By Stompin’ Tom Connors), “The After-Ski Stomp” (by Howard Cable and the Highway Eleven). This single was also released with a blue label and the words “Music For A Winter Carnival” across the top.

When Tom decided to come out of retirement he created ACT Records so that he had a Label to release his music on. This was the only 45 ever released under ACT as it wasn’t long after that Tom signed with Capital Records.

In 1989 Tom signed with his first Major Recording Label, Capital Records. They only released one 45 single as that was right around the time that 45’s were being discontinued and CD’s were then used to send to radio stations and sold in stores.
